My Current Positions (as of November 8, 2012)

Here is a summary of my current political positions. Let the arguments begin!

ECONOMIC ISSUES

1. Pro-labor, including working class and lower middle class.
These folks are the backbone of America. They support traditional patriotic, ethical, and legal causes. They have the least political support from politicians, and feel like they are the only ones paying taxes to keep the country afloat. People in this group account for 75% of all voters.

2. Pro limited term welfare and unemployment.
Help people OUT of their situation.

3. Anti big business bail outs.
Give the bail out money to the working class, they know how to use it. They'll stimulate the economy if you give them the money, and the banks and other big business will get their share, too.

4. Wind-fall Profits.
I favor government regulation of wind-fall profits. Industries should either use the money to rebuild their infrastructure, or the government should use the wind-fall to pay down the national debt. (Think Joseph's 7 fat years and 7 lean years)

SOCIAL ISSUES

5. Pro-life, anti-abortion.
I believe that life begins at conception. I am willing to authorize abortion in cases of rape or incest and when the mother's life is in danger. Otherwise, the woman had the choice to use birth control measures or to abstain. The child shouldn't pay for its mother's ( or father's) behavior.

6. Pro-Gay Rights
I favor extending all the rights and privileges to gay couples that married people enjoy. I favor civil unions. I'm not sure about calling it marriage.

7. Pro Social Security and Medicare.
They're not entitlements, we contributed to our accounts in every paycheck. The  government needs to keep its hands out of the till.

8. Universal Health Care.
I'm ambivalent about universal health care. I certainly don't like the penalties in Obamacare. I think lots of employees will see their hours reduced so that employers can avoid paying for benefits.

9. Environment.
I'm happy to have the skies and waterways cleaned up. I'm glad that unsightly dumping has (for the most part) ceased. However, I think EPA reuglations go overboard about protecting habitats. Let's find a happy medium.

FOREIGN POLICY ISSUES
10. Pro military.
I want a strong defense. I want others to think twice before challenging us. I want us to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible.

11. Pro Israel.
I believe that the nation of Israel is God's special people, but it's far from righteous.

12. Foreign Aid.
We should help other countries when we can, especially help the weaker countries/peoples who can never pay us back. We should not apologize for who we are. I don't want the US to become France or Germany.

  1. We don'need a centrist candidate, we need a candidate that puts God first and doesn't apologize for it! A candidate who gets on his knees every morning and prays for his country and God's will in his life. A candidate that will use God's word "The Bible" as his main source of reason when making decisions for this country. We need a candidate that will stand up and say what he believes, backs it up with God's word and stands fast to it. NO Compromises! Give that candidate a chance...(more to come) ace...

  2. Hi ace (?)

Thanks for engaging. Are you suggesting a theocracy as Israel had during the time of the judges when Israel had no king and every man did what was right in his own eyes? Or are you suggesting a monarchy when Israel had such kings as David the friend of God (and a murderer) or Solomon who built the temple (and then became an idolater)?

Ace, how do you think this pluralistic nation would elect such a candidate as you describe? If elected, how would he govern? The 535 members of Congress surely wouldn't all be of similar spiritual persuasion. How would this candidate fill the appointments of cabinet officers and other federal positions? Would these people be required to pass a religious "litmus" test? Our constitution prohibits a religious test for elected position.

I'm interested in your views. Thanks.

  3. I am not suggesting a model of anyone from history, I am quite sure that what I am suggesting would never happen. I guess the whole idea is to take a side. Too many people are on the fence with allot of issues. Example: abortion- from what I read, you are against abortion except in the cases of incest, rape, and or when the Mothers life is in danger. Putting all of these things in perspective, rape and incest are horrible acts, BUT a life is a life! Do you really think that you can stand before God and tell him that the life he gives is only allowed to exist according to the laws in which we as a nation honor? Seems a little arrogant to me. When a mother’s life is in danger? I'm not endorsing Ron Paul by my next quote, but he said during the debates when asked the question of abortion and the mother’s life. “In the 40 years I've been an OB Dr., I've never had that situation of choosing between a mother’s life and the babies!" He has delivered over 4000 babies...The statement of "the mother’s life being in danger" is a Hollywood made for TV scenario used by the left to further their agenda in the fight for abortion. I’m not saying it would never happen, I just think it would be too rare to make a law to justify it. The whole construct of what I suggest, I am sure would never happen. Perhaps the US will benefit from having four more years of socialism. Maybe we need to be in a place where the only way to look is up. Remember, the Lily of the Valley only grows in the Valley…ace

  4. Hi ace, thanks again for engaging.

While I understand your stand on abortion, the shedding of innocent blood is one of 7 things God abhors according to Proverbs, and even applaud your stand, we are not speaking spiritually here, but politically. Over the 40 years of Rove v. Wade there have been opportunities to back away from current law on abortion, but, it seems, conservative Christians have refused to back away from an absolutist position. I have searched for supporting evidence but alas, can not come up with any today. As a centrist I believe in compromise, and I would willingly compromise 1% of abortions for rape, incest, and for the life of the mother, for the 99% abortions for convenience. Think of the millions of lives that could be saved. But each time the issue comes up before judges or legislatures those deciding the fate of the measure can't abide the plight of the woman subjected to rape or incest.

Could I stand before God and have Him question my stand on abortion? NO, I can only stand before God citing the blood of Jesus as a reason for admittance to His heaven.
